As China's May Day holiday met an overseas acceptance inspection, leaders from MRL, the owner of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Malaysia, and from its general contractor, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), visited Royal Power to conduct the factory acceptance test on a batch of core tunnel ventilation equipment.

The ECRL is a flagship overseas project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), receiving great attention from the leaders of both China and Malaysia and the continued attention of Mr. Ouyang Yujing, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia. Holding two records—“the longest railway tunnel in Malaysia” and “the railway tunnel with the highest overburden”—the project has been certified by the Malaysia Book of Records.
A BRI Super Project

With a total length of more than 600 kilometers, the East Coast Rail Link is regarded as a “land bridge” connecting the east and west coasts of the Malay Peninsula. Running through the Titiwangsa Range, the project faces complex geology, long tunnel sections, great burial depth, high temperatures and high humidity, making ventilation during both construction and operation arguably the most challenging in Southeast Asia.
Challenge No. 1: Heat and stuffiness. The combination of deep geothermal heat and a tropical climate turns the tunnels into “steamers,” and conventional ventilation can hardly safeguard the working environment.
Challenge No. 3: Stringent international product standards. Equipment must simultaneously meet the leading industry standards of China and abroad, as well as functional requirements such as fire protection.
Hard-Core Technology Breaks Through the “Steaming” Tunnels

As a leader in China's rail-transit tunnel ventilation industry, Royal Power has accumulated rich hands-on experience across the full range of operating conditions—from high-altitude and extreme-cold to high-heat and high-humidity environments. For the extreme conditions of this project, Royal Power's technical team developed a deeply customized comprehensive ventilation solution covering every tunnel along the entire line:
High-power tunnel-specific fans: Featuring an aviation-grade aerodynamic blade design, the fans sustain powerful airflow even under ultra-high air pressure, effectively overcoming long-distance air resistance and delivering fresh air precisely to the deepest sections of the tunnels.
Anti-corrosion, moisture-resistant specialty materials and processes: To address the dual corrosion challenges of heavy salt spray along Malaysia's coast and high condensation inside the tunnels, Royal Power adopted a composite protection system combining hot-dip galvanizing with a heavy-duty anti-corrosion coating, building an all-round corrosion barrier that ensures stable, safe and durable operation of the equipment in extremely humid environments.
This is not only equipment going global, but also technical standards going global. Drawing on the hands-on experience it has accumulated under complex geological conditions, Royal Power is becoming the invisible guardian of Belt and Road infrastructure.

The successful acceptance is yet another strong result delivered by Royal Power in international engineering, following a string of landmark overseas projects including the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and the national stadium in Ethiopia, highway tunnels in Mexico, the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway, the Tsagaan Suvarga molybdenum-copper mine in Mongolia and the Simandou iron ore mine in Guinea.
