Royal Power Contributes to the "North-to-South Coal Transportation" Initiative: The Haoji Railway (Formerly Mengxi–Huazhong Railway Coal Transportation Corridor)

Oct 24,2019

The Haoji Railway (formerly the Menghua Railway) has a total length of 1,813.5 kilometers and is the longest railway in the world built and opened to traffic in a single phase. It starts at Haolebaoji South Station in Ordos, Inner Mongolia in the north, passes through the seven provinces and autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi, and terminates at Ji'an Station on the Beijing–Kowloon Railway. Designed for a speed of 120 km/h, it is a National Railway Grade I electrified railway, with 77 stations opened in the initial phase and a planned annual transport capacity of more than 200 million tonnes.

Building a world-class railway was an arduous process. Royal Ventilation was honored to take part in the project, fully cooperating with the project headquarters and providing end-to-end tracking and service, from product transport to on-site construction management. The tunnels over 15 kilometers long in which Royal Ventilation participated include the Zhongtiaoshan, Xiaoshan, Xi'anling and Jiulingshan tunnels; those over 5 kilometers long include the Wanrong, Yumenkou, Huangbailing, Dazhongshan, Xixia, Zhangfang, Lianyunshan and Tongmu tunnels. To meet the project's completion deadlines, a dedicated “Haoji Service Team” was set up; working day and night, the team completed the supply and installation of ventilation equipment in three months, joining the project headquarters in delivering this landmark project.

The Xiaoshan Tunnel was designed as two single-bore structures, with the left line totaling 22.751 km—the longest heavy-haul railway tunnel in the world and ranking fifth among China's longest railway tunnels. It crosses the Xiaoshan range of the eastern Qinling Mountains, where the terrain is precipitous and the valleys are narrow and long; shaped by long-term tectonic activity, the ancient strata feature fractured surrounding rock and exceptionally complex geological conditions.

The Zhongtiaoshan Tunnel is 18.4 kilometers long, a double-bore, single-track tunnel with a maximum burial depth of about 840 meters and a total construction period of 60 months. It is the tunnel with the most complex geological conditions and the number-one controlling project along the entire Haoji Railway. More than 3,000 builders worked intensively for 45 months to complete the breakthrough of this key controlling project, marking the breakthrough of all 228 tunnels along the Haoji Railway—a breakthrough achievement.

The Xi'anling Tunnel, designed as a double-bore, single-track tunnel with a main-line length of 18.4 kilometers, is the third-longest of the more than 400 tunnels along the Menghua Railway and one of the line's major and most difficult controlling tunnel projects.

The Jiulingshan Tunnel, with a total length of 15.371 kilometers, is the second-longest single-bore, double-track tunnel and the fourth-longest tunnel overall on the Haoji Railway.

The project headquarters spoke highly of Royal Ventilation: the jet fans feature refined appearance and exquisite workmanship and operate with very low noise; on-site construction was well organized and properly managed; and the team coordinated seamlessly on on-site design changes and equipment commissioning. To ensure completion of the tasks, personnel worked overtime at the project site even during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

As most of the line runs through mountainous areas with numerous tunnels and highly inconvenient transport, routine maintenance and operational inspection of the ventilation equipment were greatly affected; given labor costs and safety considerations, later-stage operation posed a very significant challenge. For this reason, the company actively communicated with the project's designer, presenting and confirming its internet-based application with the design institute. The challenge was ultimately resolved to perfection, achieving yet another upgrade of conventional equipment.

The customer's praise is a great encouragement to the Royal Power team. We will continue to center on product quality and customer service, steadily raising our manufacturing standards to provide society with better, more user-friendly fan products.
